Harmless Like You Paperback Edition

I have designed a new cover for the paperback edition of Harmless Like You. I am really pleased with the outcome and the book is an amazing read. In the past 1960s narrative, a Japanese girl has an ambition to be an artist, in the present day narrative her son is dealing with his feelings from his mother’s abandonment. I love how each chapter beginning, beautifully describes a different colour of paint that sets a particular mood. You can read examples of this on my Quotes page.

Bookshop in February 2017

At Stanfords bookshop, we are globe trotting my book cover designs.

In Iceland, there are copies of Moonstone by Sjón. This is illustrated by the wonderfully talented Owen Gent.

Moonstone is also proudly part of The Best of European Literature display.

In Switzerland, there are multiple copies of The Gilded Chalet by Padraig Rooney displayed facing out in all its glory. The portraits of Byron, Mary Shelley and James Joyce are illustrated by the speedy and super talented Alan Vest. Alan also illustrates author portraits regularly for The Guardian, so it was great to have him on board with this project.

The Waking Land Cover Reveal

Here is another young adult fantasy trilogy that I’ve been working on has had a cover reveal!

The brief was to create a beautiful and lush image with filtered lights and rich colours. The main character is an 18 year old girl who has the magical ability to speak to the tree and rocks with her hands, so it is important to convey a dark forest with this sense of overgrowing greenery.

Bookshop in January 2017

These new books are out and about in bookshops now.

The Lovers paperback with a new Afterword is available to purchase. It is really worth reading as it is an important book that talks about both human and women’s rights. Young lovers, Zakia and Ali have had to flee their homes as their marriage is forbidden by ethnic and religious differences in Afghanistan. This edition gives the latest update on their situation since the hardback was published last year.

And the first in the Frostblood trilogy is spotted in the bookshop amongst other YA books. It is weather appropriate for this month too.
